LAURA BRUNING - Speech Pathologist

Laura has a passion for building collaborative relationships with children and their families to support them towards achieving their speech and language goals. Laura believes that a family centred, and strengths-based approach is key to achieving functional communication outcomes.

Laura is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (CPSP), and a member of Speech Pathology Australia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology at ACU in 2016. Since then she has worked in Private Practice and Early Childhood Intervention. Currently alongside KidsPT, she works at a special school in Melbourne’s East.

Laura has experience supporting children from infancy to high school with a range of communication difficulties including speech, language, literacy and social communication. Laura has worked with children and teenagers that present with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Intellectual Disabilities and other complex medical conditions. She enjoys working in settings that suit her client’s needs, such as their home, kindergarten or school, whilst collaborating with external stakeholders, such as teachers, integration aides and other health professionals.

Laura loves discovering and nurturing each child’s individual strengths and capabilities. She strives to build their confidence and self-esteem through engaging, fun and meaningful therapy activities. Laura is determined to work with parents and carers to empower their child to enhance their speech and language development.

Laura keeps up to date with the latest research-based interventions, and regularly attends professional development training opportunities, such as Speech Pathology Australia Workshops, Little Learners Love Literacy Workshop, Key Word Sign + Auslan courses and LAMP training. She approaches her role as a Speech Pathologist with compassion, kindness, empathy and energy.
